Slang: Frog and Toad
Meaning: Road
Example: Arm juss orf dahn the frog.
Translation: I’m just going for a walk down the road.

Slang: Loop the Loop
Meaning: Soup
Example: Loop the loop?
Translation: Would you like a bowl of soup?

Slang: Holy Ghost
Meaning: Toast
Example: Holy Ghost?
Translation: Would you care for some toast?

Slang: Almond Rocks
Meaning: Socks
Example: Ave you sin my almonds?
Translation: Do you know where my socks are?

Slang: Pen and Ink
Meaning: Stink
Example: Cor, you aven’t dropped one ave yer, there’s a right pen and ink in ere?
Translation: Do you have flatulence, there’s a rather unpleasant aroma in here?

Slang: Apples and Pears
Meaning: Stairs
Example: Carm on, up the apples an pears to Bedfordshire.
Translation: It’s time you went upstairs to bed.

Widcat Hysterical! When I was 16 and moved to England for 3 years, I was humiliated in public when I just couldn't understand what anyone said. I watched telly for a couple of weeks and got my ears tuned in and was ok after that...and it wasn't even Cockney!
