11.15.09 -A World of Pain

2009.11.15

These are not attractive pictures. In fact, I'm betting there is a website out there specifically for kamikaze soccer players, better suited for this kind of material. But, since I am loyal to the photoblog, this is going to have to do. You get to see pictures of my injuries.

Last week we played super six in the rain (thank you Ida, aka disappointment) which resulted in a bit more messiness than usual. I decided at one point to slide into the goal post, resulting in the shiner on my left shin (pic 1). Saturday we played in a 3 v 3 tournament in Thomasville GA. As per usual, there were not enough coed teams and the coed and mens divisions joined for the tourney. While we went 2-1 in regular play, we lost in the semis to a fairly powerful mens team that ended up winning it all. I got in the way of one said powerful man's shot, resulting in the circular bruise on my right thigh with some of the ball pattern in red in the middle (pic 2 and 3). HOT. I immediately yelped when this happened, then thought, "thats going to be a cool bruise tomorrow!" It is. Today at TSA, I marked a more uncoordinated fellow in the first 15 minutes of the game who somehow kicked/stepped on my ankle, resulting in some kind of swelling seen in picture four. I then decided that all wasn't enough and I should make sure my still recovering from possibly broken right pinky should get some action. I kicked my friend Ben in the foot, resulting in a red and swollen recovering right pinky toe (unfortunate pic 5).

And guess what, game tomorrow and tourney this weekend. I'm waiting for mom to call me and tell me this is ludicrous in 3... 2... 1...

Sorry body for picking such a rough sport. Don't hate me.

noptek Very impressive. You've played it rough. You're a kind of soccer warrior. Better be on your team than on the opponent team.
