Since the last update nothing too thrilling has happened, but my job has switched gears slightly. We are working on a new show about "real mall cops." Basically it's a reality show that follows around mall security guards at the Mall of America in Minnesota. It sounds pretty lame, but hopefully the editors can find an interesting way to piece the footage together. So anyway, I've been working on this new show all week, watching the tapes and making record of what is on each one. It gets a little tedious, but at least I'm doing something and not just sitting at my desk twiddling my thumbs. The pilot is supposed to air on October 15 on TLC, so everyone watch it and hope my name makes it into the credits!

Socially this week was quite eventful. I discovered a dance studio in North Hollywood where I have been taking ZUMBA classes! It's a mix of different latin dance styles all piled into an hour long workout, and it's SO much fun! I highly recommend it to any of you ladies reading this. They have it all over the country, so look it up online and find a class. It's awesome.

Tuesday night my roommates and I had an amazing dinner with a family in Burbank. They were the aunt and uncle of a friend from school who really like to cook, so they were generous enough to have us over. It's probably the best dinner we've had since we've been out here. Thursday I met up with some people I worked with last year at my internship. After a drink I got some incredible sushi with one of them and then met up with some of my sorority sisters who are out here looking for an apartment. Last night Jess and I went to a birthday for someone we work with, and tonight I've planned a little birthday dinner for my roommates, both whose birthdays fall on different days this week. I'll try to post more often!

Powered by Photoblog.com

That is basically what I do -- sit here until someone needs me to run an errand. I have a lot of down time, but I don't really mind getting paid to blog and write emails. It's such a relief getting up every morning and coming to the office, knowing that I won't have to be online for the next 6 hours searching for media jobs to apply for.

I'm not sure how long they will need me for, as a lot of people that work here are freelancers, working when a new show or season rolls around. Lucky for me, I was chatting with another Elon Alum over the weekend who has done really well for himself out here. He is from Jordan, and at 26 he has already produced an award winning film that did wonderfully at the Sundance Film Festival. He is getting ready to make another film, but at the moment he is doing documentary photography for a middle eastern hip hop movement, as well as serving as the King of Jordan's personal photographer. Not bad. Anyway, we talked for quite a while and he told me to call him when this job is up. He said that he has met so many people out here that he is confident he can help me find something in whatever area I'm interested in. That networking stuff sure comes in handy!

Powered by Photoblog.com

I've been searching high and low to find a job -- production companies, beauty salons, Starbucks -- and I haven't allowed myself much down time during the week for stuff like this. You will all be thrilled to know, however, that I got a job today!!

The past few weeks I've been interning at a below the line agency that works with art directors, line producers, production managers, etc. The guys I work for were really great, hooking me up with different contacts here and there. I told them I thought I wanted to work in casting, so they did all they could to get me connected with friends and colleagues.

Sadly, I just called Dave (my boss) and told them I couldn't work there anymore because I got a paying job. He was disappointed, but he said I always had a home at ACA and that I was welcome back at any time. So anyway, my friend Jess called me this morning and asked if I wanted to work for the day. She has been working at a production company called September Films that works on reality tv shows, one being Bridezillas. I was excited enough, thinking I was going to be running errands for the day and getting paid, but when I talked to her boss she told me it would be for several weeks. I guess I'm a runner/assistant in the office at the moment, but when this pilot episode that they are working on is done, she said that it's pretty possible that I could join the team for the rest of the year. Not only am I getting paid, but my desk is across from one of my best friends out here! I knew things would fall into place eventually...

I decided to give you a few things to look at. Just a few pics from a trip we took to San Diego to visit my friend Caleb. Life is good!

Powered by Photoblog.com

The apartment is great, and I can actually walk to the bank/grocery store/Starbucks/a million other places! This first entry will probably be a little short, seeing as not too much has happened yet. I've been applying for jobs left and right since I got here, but so far all I've got is an unpaid internship. It's only a few days a week, so I'm still excited about it. I can still get a paying job, and I'll be getting the experience of working in a small below the line agency at the same time. Hopefully it will help me get a paying job at a bigger agency... woo hoo! Check out the website at http://www.allcrewagency.com/home/index.php5.

I've seen all of my friends, which has been a lot of fun. I've driven around town a few times, and I love just being in a place with a lot going on. My roommates have been great so far, as you will see them hanging out on the couch in a pic below. We are all getting along really well so far. Well, I hope everyone's summer is going well! For those of you that wanted my address, I wrote it below. Miss everyone!
